TotalEnergies Contributes to COVID-19 Response Fund

Suva, May 7, 2020 – Total Fiji contributes FJ$50,000 to the COVID-19 Response Fund created by the Government of Fiji to support COVID-19 pandemic needs, including funding for medical supplies, assistance of individuals and industries affected by the pandemic. The Hon. Attorney-General and Minister for Economy, Civil Service and Communications received the cheque from Mr. Kazi Rahman, Managing Director of Total Fiji at Ministry of Economy, Level 10 Ro Lalabalavu House.

“We thank the Honorable Prime Minister and the government for their strong leadership demonstrated in this pandemic. We are extremely grateful to all front-line personnel managing this public health emergency and its related economic impact, including medical professionals, police and other government agencies,” said Kazi Rahman. “We would like to contribute our support as a member of Fijian community, consistent with the support we have previously extended in other instances of national emergency such as TC Harold, TC Kini and TC Winston.”

In addition to the company’s contribution, the employees of Total Fiji have also stepped up to voluntarily contribute FJ$14,631.52 from their own salaries to the COVID-19 Response Fund.
The donation was handed over to the Honorable The Hon. Attorney-General and Minister for Economy, Civil Service and Communications by Mrs. Susan Miller, Vice-President Human Resources and Mr. Risiate Daulako, Chairperson of Total Fiji Labour Management Consultative Committee. “We want to show our solidarity by participating in this worthy effort to support the government and our fellow Fijians in these unprecedented times,” said Susan Miller.

Hon. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum Minister for Economy, Civil Service and Communications said, “I would like to thank TotalEnergies for their contribution and continuation of their commitment towards Fiji.” The Hon. Minister also thanked the staff of Total Fiji for their contribution appreciating “the concern and commitment towards fellow Fijians.”
